A Franco-Iranian singer, trained at the Paris Conservatory, Ariana Vafadari brings together her oriental heritage and her passion for classical music. A mezzo soprano with a deep tone, but also a composer, she invents epic sounds, between traditional music, classical and jazz, where Zoroastrian wisdom poetically illuminates our questions today.
Her agile mezzo-soprano voice, her musicality and her dramatic presence allow her to integrate lyrical productions: if she sings Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, it is especially in the baroque repertoire that she flourishes. She is Nero in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Proserpine in Orfeo and Dido in Purcell. She also tackles the contemporary repertoire and enjoys immersing herself in the more intimate world of chamber music. She performs on stages such as the Opera of Lyon, Dijon, the Opera of Toulon, or in concert at the Salle Pleyel or the Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg.
She composed and recorded in 2016 the album "Gathas, Songs my father taught me", revelation of the Festival of Sacred Music of Fez, and in 2020 the album "Anahita".
She has mixed her music with electronic music thanks to collaborations with DJ Satori or DJ Chambord, at the Burning Man Festival or the Exit Festival.

4WOMEN
New project
An order from Maison Cartier in the part of the Dubai World Expo
"4Women" was born out of an encounter with the women of the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh, a university that welcomes women from all over Asia for free. Around the testimonies of some of these young women, the decline of the condition of women during the Covid and the revolt of the Iranian people, the writer and filmmaker Atiq Rahimi wrote four stories, a kind of Medea monologue, taken with compassion for those who face poverty, forced marriages and violence in their lives. Ariana sings in Persian, and three young girls in their native language, surrounded by piano, double bass, oud and percussion. An initiative embodying Ariana Vafadari's approach, which seeks to create bridges between eras, spiritualities and people through music.(Photo Victor Picon)
ANAHITA
"Anahita" invents a legend, that of a woman whose village is ravaged by drought and who must wander the world in search of Anahita, the Iranian deity of waters, fertility and wisdom. A mystical quest mixing Rumi's poetry, Leili Anvar's and Avesta prayers, but which also resonates with a very real drama, that of the drying up of soils due to the detour of rivers and the overconsumption of water.
Oud, Theorbo and Voice
From theorbo to Oud, from Monteverdi to oriental songs, this trio mixes repertoires that are so far away thanks to these two instruments that are so close. We hear in turn Caccini, Strozzi, Arabo-Andolusian or Ariana's songs.
